About NSN
National Sales Network is a 501-C-3
not-for-profit membership organization whose mission is to meet the
professional and developmental needs of African-American sales and sales
management professionals. Annual membership fees are only $75.
National Sales Network was founded by a
group of African-American sales and sales management professionals in
Newark, New Jersey, June 1992. The original purpose of the organization
was and still is to enhance the skill development of sales and sales
management professionals while providing a forum for networking within the
profession. Several well-established Black professional organizations
served as examples of how instrumental an organization of this magnitude
could be in providing networking opportunities for sales professionals.
Since then, the organization has grown to
nine chapters nationwide. These chapters conduct seminars on subjects such
as:
-
Selling skills
-
Negotiating skills
-
Job search
-
Time management
-
Organization skills
-
Career management.
DC/Baltimore Chapter History
On March 11 & 18, 1997, meetings were held at
Bailey's Restaurant in Silver Spring, MD, constituting the beginning of
the Washington DC/Baltimore Chapter. The founding members set out on a
quest to duplicate the success already realized in Newark. Chicago,
Philadelphia, and Detroit.
This effort brought out many transplants and
natives to this Metro area from as far south as Norfolk, VA and as far
north as Northwestern Maryland. Firmly establishing this area as one of
the premier chapters in the country. Growth was so fast that we were even
chosen to host a national Conference in 1999 after only two years of work
and winning the Chapter of the year award.
The D.C./Baltimore chapter's rapid growth led
to us hosting the 1999 National Conference, after only two years' work, as
well as being chosen for the Chapter of the year award. Our group was
firmly established as a premier chapter in the country.
